This stamp set is adorable and would be perfect for Mother's Day cards! Admittedly, I used a similar card design (using the mermaid from Mermaid at Heart) for one of our Saturday challenges a little while ago. I only shared it over on my Instagram, but figured since everyone seemed to love it so much that it may be worth creating a blog post for!
I sometimes get overwhelmed by the many stamps within each set and feel like I have to use all of them on one card, but I wanted to show you that you can create beautiful and simple cards with only one (or a couple) stamps--especially with TRS stamps, they're the perfect size for a design like this!
I started by stamping the mermaid on a piece of 4.25 x 5.5 inch white cardstock in black amalgam ink. I also stamped her on a Post-it note and fussy cut to create a mask. After adhering the mask onto my panel, I used a blending brush and a very light hand to blend a halo of distress ink (I used Mermaid Lagoon) around her. Next I peeled off the mask (my favorite part!) and Copic colored the mermaid and her little baby! I finished it off by white heat embossing the "You are so loved" sentiment on a black cardstock banner, and adding some little sequins.
I always struggle with coloring humans/skin so thought I'd share my color combos in case they help anyone:
- Skin--E29, E27, E23
- Hair--N8, N6, N4
- Tail--BG18, BG15, BG13, BG11
- Top--V17, V15, V12
- Arm decoration/baby's diaper--B39, B37, B34
- Hair accessories--BG 18, BG15, BG13 | B05 | E42, E40 | V17, V15, V12

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you have a lovely weekend!
Happy crafting!
