Feature Friday - Mermaid at Heart

Welcome friends! Candice here (@candoodlecreations) for Feature Friday! I'm super excited to be starting on the Three Room Studio design team and to be featuring one of my all time favourite stamp sets, Mermaid at Heart!

 

 

 

I think we all tend to focus on the main focal image of the stamp set (can you blame us? That mermaid is beautiful!), but I also like to think of creative ways to utilize the little stamps in each set, and that's what I decided to do today! I also LOVE interactive cards, so I decided to make a "rocker" card.

 

 

 

 
I started by using the largest circle die I have (about 4.5 inches in diameter) to cut a card base out of 110 lb white cardstock, which I then scored and folded in half. I also die cut a small oval from the same cardstock. I created the "underwater" looking background on both of these pieces by ink smooshing with distress oxide inks in Mermaid Lagoon, Salty Ocean, and Peacock Feathers. Once the pieces were dry I used Versamark ink and white embossing powder to heat emboss the sentiment on the oval which I then adhered to the top center of the card base. 

 

Next I stamped all the little images with some Copic-friendly black ink and colored each of them with my Copic markers -- you can see which colors I used below!

 

 

I adhered all the little images down to the card and that's it, the card is complete!
