2020 Spring Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

Sandra Boone

Hello!  I am so excited to be participating in the "2020 Spring | Summer Coffee Lovers Hop"!

For my card, I made a coffee-fuelled office scene. A lot of people (including me) are working as members of remote teams right now, and that means a lot of teleconferences and videoconferences, which can be really exhausting.  Coffee to the rescue!

To create this scene, I used images from "Awesome Coffee", "Cubiculture", and the plant from "Moving Sentiments", which I inked up in Gina K Designs Black Amalgam Ink, and coloured with Copic markers.

I really wanted this card to be special, though, so I thought it needed to light up!

To do this, I fussy cut the insides of the coffee sleeve and the computer monitors.  I used Versamark Ink and Ranger Platinum embossing powder for the sentiment on a scrap of vellum, which was cut slightly larger than the opening of the coffee sleeve,  and adhered this to back of the card front.

I also drew some videoconference participants, using coloured pencil, on a scrap of white printer paper, and adhered this to the back of the card front.

I used 3 white Chibitronics light stickers, positioned on another piece of cardstock in the centre of the coffee sleeve, and in the centre of the openings for each of the computer monitors.  I placed the battery on the cardstock, under the paper wad above the wastepaper basket, so when the paper wad is pushed, the lights come on.  (Unfortunately, I forgot to take photos of this part, but will be recreating this card in a video on my YouTube channel soon.)

Once the lights were put in place, and I ensured they worked, I used three layers of 3M foam tape to pop up the card front.  It was necessary to use so many layers in order to make room for the battery.  Once the card front was adhered on the foam tape, I adhered the whole mechanism to a black card base, and this card was finished!

This was a fun card to make.  I always forget I have these lights to play with, but when I do use them, I'm always so happy with the finished project, I keep meaning to make more.

Thank you so much for stopping along here on this MASSIVE hop! So many great companies are participating and sponsoring, with many prizes to be won!

All the details can be found on the Coffee Loving Cardmakers blog here, and you can play along link your own projects as well.

Enjoy the rest of the hop, and good luck to you!

Have a great day, and happy hopping!
